Anyone know a good cookbook for cooking without dairy/lactose? I was wondering the local mega-bookseller and well… walked away without one because I couldn’t pick one. Any suggestions?

Hi, I just found your blog. It’s always good to know that you are not alone (plus you inspired me to do my own IBS awareness month post!). As far as books go, there is a book called “Cooking Without” by Babara Cousins. It’s gluten free, dairy free, added sugar free and yeast free (but you can of course tailor it to suit you). I can’t vouch for it personally but I’ve read the vegetarian version by the same author and it was dairy free.
There is also a stack of recipes here (I promise, this one isn’t vegetarian
): http://www.godairyfree.org/Table/Recipes/ which includes recipes for making your own dairy substitutes.
In all seriousness though, just sub rice milk, soy milk, almond or cashew milk, oat milk or hemp milk (whatever floats your boat) in recipes. Use Vanilla in sweet recipes and plain in others (I don’t recommend rice milk in savoury dishes though, it’s a little sweet).
